Lahka grew up in Kotzebue, Alaska. He graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in finance. He has worked as a personal banker for National Bank of Alaska, and a loan officer for Northwest Inupiat Housing Authority. Currently, he lives in Nome and works for Kawerak, Inc. He first ran the Iron Dog in 2002. That year he went through so much pain he swore he would never do it again. However, he ran again in '05 and now he's signed up again in '08. The years in between he has been activily involved in the race as a volunteer.

Daniel grew up in Eagle River, Alaska. He graduated LeTourneau University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He moved to Kotzebue in 1997 where he worked as an Engineer-in-training for the City of Kotzebue for two and a half years. He currently works for Drake Construction, Inc as a project manager. He first ran the the Iron Dog in 2001 as a trail rider and has been hooked ever since. He as run the pro class in '02, '04, and '05.
