They got out 11:06am. It was a beautiful cold day at Big Lake, -27F in the morning and partly sunny skies.
February 11
They were reported into Nikolai at 12:55am.
February 11
They called in from McGrath at 3:15am. They lost the trail between Puntilla and Rohn near Hells Gate. Lahka's goggles were fogging up after leaving Rohn, so he drove without them into McGrath. Daniel hit a tree but no major damage just a cracked tub. They had a rough ride through the steps. Temp in Rohn was -34F.
They met team #21 south of Rohn. One of their engines had no spark and they were towing into Rohn.
They met team #6 south of Rohn. They had a broken A-arm and were double riding into Rohn.
Planning 10-12hr layover (l/o) in McGrath.
February 11
They checked into Ruby at 9:01pm. Not much to report today. They had a good ride from McGrath. It was rough between Ophir & Poorman. They passed 3 teams # 7, 9, & 25. Lahka did have a little frostbite on his left pinky, but not as much fogging in his goggles.
Planning 11hr l/o in Ruby.
February 12
They checked into Unalakleet at 1:06pm. Had a good run from Ruby. Five miles outside of UNK Lahka had a pretty good crash, bent the handle bars & cracked the tub. They're hunting up parts and resting for the remaining push to Nome.
Team #25 was fixing their undercarriage in Kaltag.
Local temp in Unalakleet is -14F.
Taking remaining 7hr l/o, so they will be on the trail tonight.
Good Luck Boys!!!
February 12
They left Unalakleet 9:30pm after working on their sled for an hour.
February 12
They were reported into Shaktoolik 10:55pm and out at 11pm.
On the trail to Koyuk.
February 13
Arrived into Nome around 4am. Machines are running fine other than Lahka's being a little banged up. Lahka's was not feeling well but after a night (or a morning) rest is doing a little better. Daniel's hands are a bit tired. (The best thing for tired bodies is another 250+ mile ride:-) Which they will get to do tomorrow. Not sure what time they will leave Nome yet. They will spend their Nome time resting, revising Lahka's goggles and resting some more.
Banquet tonight and back on the trail south tomorrow.
February 13
In the garage at Nome. On Daniel's sled, they changed a set of skaggs, adjusted the shocks & springs, tightened screws on the aluminum cover plate and greased machine. On Lahka's sled, they adjusted shocks, springs and greased machine. All this on the clock in 6 minutes & 15 seconds.
Drivers meeting at 7:30am tomorrow. The leaders should be pulling out of Nome about 9am and they hope to be out about 11am.

Happy Valentines Day!
Daniel & Lahka arrived in Unalakleet around 7pm but not without a little excitment. Lahka broke left A-arm 15 miles outside of UNK. They drove a couple of miles and if fell apart. So they pieced it together and limped into UNK. They're on layover there and deciding how to best mend the dragon for the remaining push to the finish.
Push on to Fairbanks, we'll see you at the finish!
February 15
Daniel & Lahka still in Unalakleet waiting for parts to arrive around 1:30pm. (Shocks for Daniel's machine.) Looks like they might scratch.
Team #8 left UNK about 11am.
